Custom jeans: a difficult choice. Part I
To buy a new pair of custom jeans you’ll surely need some free time and enough patience.
The first thing you are to decide on is the color and style. Try to explain the shop assistant
what exactly you are looking for, it will save your time greatly, believe me. When you are going
to a fitting-room you’d better take four pairs of jeans with you – two pairs of your regular size,
one pair bigger then usual and one of a smaller size. Strange as it might seem, this trick works!
Remember – all jeans tend to become larger in size after about a month of active wearing. Men should
stick to their regular jeans size while women should better prefer smaller models – about two sizes
smaller or so.
All jeans can be divided into those manufactured from denim with rough structure and those made from soft
denim. Rough jeans are generally of a classical cut with five pockets.

They are best of all combined with
a men’s white shirt, a jacket and a beautiful quality leather belt. In this case it is recommended to put
the shirt into jeans. However, be careful choosing a jacket – a green or a red one embellished with golden
buttons is a bad company to a high-quality made to measure jeans model. If you prefer not to tuck in your
shirt belt it on your thighs with a wide belt with a massive square buckle. A belt on thighs makes every
woman look slimmer. Soft denim jeans are worn on thighs without a belt. They can also be turned over in the
bottom, which is not recommended in case of jeans with a rough structure.

In her new book “That Extra Half and Inch” Victoria Beckham dedicates a whole chapter to the choice of
a perfect jeans pair. Let’s take a closer look at her useful advice. First of all, Victoria point out
the fact that high quality tailor made jeans should necessarily be expensive. Today they can be found
not only in exclusive boutiques but in big supermarkets as well. You can also shop for jeans online. For

But if you have already made up your mind to visit a denim shop, be sure that it has the right
system of mirrors, which allow you to observe your figure from all points. As a matter of fact, each fitting
room should have those. But they are extremely important when you are going to buy jeans, because you have to
have an idea of your look behind.
Victoria Beckham believes a purchase of perfectly fitting jeans is a good money investment. However,
there are not many good jeans models to be found on the market. Victoria says she would never spend
the money on a piece of clothes that does not fit her and she doesn’t recommend anyone to do it as well.
The main problem of jeans choice according to Mrs. Beckham is the fact that jeans models ideally tight
on legs are generally too tight in the waist part. If you prefer to wear your jeans with a belt you should
also be careful not to choose too massive models and not wear them too tight, which can otherwise totally
deform your figure. The belt should however neither bag behind – this would not make you sexier as well.
The best solution is to find jeans with a higher back part – they go perfect with any belt which tightly fits
your back.
Another jeans problem Victoria Beckham mentions in her book is the fact that many jeans models, especially
skinny ones, tend to stretch in the knee part after wearing.
