Personalized jeans and water
The history of wet jeans begins where the story of custom jeans as such began – in gold mines of the 19th century. Generally there are two ways of finding gold. To dig it out of gold mines, which is a dry and dusty work and to search for it in streams and rivers, which indicates much contact with water.

For a long time made to measure jeans became wet only in case the job demanded it. This situation changes as jeans finally became casual and functioned as an essential part of our everyday life. Ingenious jeans fans invented more and more new methods of how to give their jeans an original touch and design custom jeans in an individual way. Quite often it meant bathing in jeans to create a shrink-to-fit effect. Jeans fans started to see their favorite jeans as second skin, and who would come to the idea off taking his or her skin off to go swimming?

Short jeans, the so-called cutoffs make perfect swimming trunks, which was successfully demonstrated in popular “Flipper” series. Both human key characters wear only shortcut jeans for swimming.
Since the mid 1980s tailor made jeans manufacturer brand Levi’s has been proving in its advertising spots that jeans and water were meant for each other. Other denim brands presented their wet jeans look advertising as well; however, they didn’t manage to surpass the popularity of Levi’s spots.
Since the 1980s the great windsurf-boom started, which brought typical surfer clothes together with it. Knee-long shorts more and more often replaced swimming trunks, and finally customized jeans shorts were worn instead of them.

Let us discuss some of the jeans advantages as swimming clothes. Classical swimming suits are popular for their practical comfort, which means we feel nothing of them on the skin and they do not prevent us from swimming. Those of us who have already had the experience in swimming with his clothes on know that wet clothes detains the movements more than it would do in a dry state. This clothes feeling can be described as irritating for some of the people and pleasant for the others. In case of personalized jeans is this feeling very intensive.

Apart from the sensual perception there are visual and fashion impressions which can serve as jeans advantages. For traditional swimming suits are dull, which can be compensated only by a well built figure. Besides, starting from the 1980s the swimming fashion was influenced by the appearance of swimming shorts. However, swimming shorts are usually made from the thin fabric which doesn’t flatter anybody’s figure in a wet state. Thus a person coming out of the water in jeans looks much better compared with the person wearing swimming shorts. For robust tailor jeans form the perfect silhouette and sit ideally even when they are wet.
Jeans pockets are also very useful. Especially when we are speaking about skinny jeans. Your things do not fall out of them that easily, that is why waterproof items like keys are much safer in your jeans pockets than in a bag on the beach.
But where can you go swimming in jeans? In most public swimming pools jeans are not accepted as a bathing suit for hygienic reasons. This could make sense in old and closed swimming pools, is however not reasonable in case of modern open swimming centers.
A better situation can be observed on open water – seas, rivers and lakes. Because on most beaches people wearing designer jeans shorts for swimming have already become casualty. Long jeans are seen rather rarely. However, in case you can tolerate people staring at you, you could probably try and go swimming in your favorite jeans. In most cases are the reactions of people around you positive.
And, finally, you can just take a bath or a shower in your jeans at home. For nothing shows your close connection with this clothes item more than this sacral act. Stay tuned!
