Customized jeans by Tom Tailor
Tom Tailor is one of the leading world denim brands. The product
range of the company also includes sports and teenager wear. The
main principle of the brand is fast-fashion. 12 collections of clothes
a year are presented for each line under Tom Tailor trademark – Men Casual,
Women Casual, Kids, Denim Male and Denim Female as well as Accessories.

The company was established in 1962 in Hamburg, Germany by Hans-Heinrich Pünjer.
It was originally called “Henke&Co.” and manufactured plaided shirts. The name of the
brand was later changed, because its creator wanted something catchy and carrying an
image of inexpensive, but long-lasting and high quality clothes, that is when the name
“Tom Tailor” appeared.

The business grew and the product range was gradually widened. In 1979 sportswear by Tom
Tailor appears. And in the 1980s the brand starts to manufacture some pieces of clothes for
women and children. However one still can’t call these attempts full collections. Tom Tailor’s
collections were back then mainly sold in big trading centers, there were no brand shops as we
know them. The first shop by Tom Tailor was opened only in 1994, however this experience turned
out to be a success and further shops started to open all over Germany and abroad. In 1995 a
special line for children was introduced called “Tom Tailor Boy” followed by “Tom Tailor Girl”
line in 1997. A “Tom Tailor Women” collection appears two years after in 1999. The product range
of the brand is also widened by manufacture of Tom Tailor perfume and teenager customized jeans
wear “Tom Tailor Denim”. The company has chosen a popular way to sell its trademark to outside
manufacturers. Tom Tailor perfume, for instance, is created and produced by “Procter and Gamble”
Company and shoes by Tom Tailor are also manufactured by outsiders.
Today Tom Tailor brand is represented in 35 countries of the world, has more than 600 employees
and about 6000 of trade outlets, which brought the company only in 2007 about 36 millions euros profit.
